it doesn't make sense to buy and use a lot of tech that disrespects you.  it's almost certainly doing things you don't know about, for reasons that aren't helpful to you.  if you're using proprietary tech, chances are you are exploiting others whether you know it or not

if you prefer to respect other people----unlike all the existing authority figures in your community----then you don't want to use the latest and greatest proprietary tech.  almost never.   instead you want to use open designs, open hardware, open source software
