People who say "xyz was ahead of his time" are implying they are feel superior

Can you get into this with more details?

I don’t understand the connection between saying someone was ahead of their time and feeling superior to them

Well it implies that people back then were less advanced than in the present day, therefore it also implies that the person making that statement considers himself to be a more advanced lifeform than the people in the era he is making reference to.

I would’ve never made that connection between those two things. In some ways, present times are superior to past times. We know how to diet and exercise, and people live longer now than they did 50 or 60 years ago.

It's quite apparent to me, especially when the person saying it is orders of magnitude less intelligent/accomplished than the person he is referring to. For example some random zoomer making a reaction video to prime mike tyson or george carlin
